The Top Companies for Off-Grid Photovoltaics in Greece – What the Customer Should Compare
14/09/2026
The choice of a company for an off-grid or hybrid photovoltaic system should not be based solely on the final price. This is an investment of many thousands of euros that is expected to operate daily for many years. The customer must compare the technical study, equipment, installation, protections, warranties, expandability, and after-delivery support.
Several reputable companies operate in the Greek market. The essential comparison, however, is not which company promises the most. It is which company can demonstrate that the proposed system is correctly dimensioned, safe, expandable, and suitable for the actual consumption of the property.
The lowest price does not always mean a better investment
Two offers mentioning "5 kW", "15 kW" or "30 kWh battery" may refer to projects of completely different quality. What matters is the exact inverter model, the actual usable capacity of the battery, the LONGi solar panels, the AC/DC panels, the fuses and disconnects, the lightning protection, the cross-sections and quality of the cables, the mounting brackets, the grounding, and the parameterization method.
A more economical offer can be correct when a proper study has been conducted and suitable materials are used. However, the customer should not compare only the final amount. The crucial question is: "What exactly am I getting for the money I am investing and who will support the system after installation?"
Why Hellenic Energy places special emphasis on Victron Energy
In energy autonomy projects, Hellenic Energy extensively uses Victron Energy solutions. Victron is a Dutch company with a history dating back to 1975 and an international presence in off-grid, marine, mobility, industrial applications, backup, and energy storage. Its philosophy is based on an integrated ecosystem of inverter/chargers, MPPT, monitoring, and energy management.
For us, Victron's value is not just in the name. It lies in the system architecture: MultiPlus-II or Quattro, SmartSolar MPPT, Cerbo GX, GX Touch, Lynx and compatible batteries can function as a single energy system with advanced monitoring and future expandability.
Hellenic Energy specializes in the installation and parameterization of Victron systems. Wherever the term certified partner/installer is used, this refers to the corresponding applicable cooperation and technical training data. The selection of a specialized installer is particularly important, because even top-notch equipment cannot correct a faulty study or sloppy electrical installation.
International Ecosystem and Technical Support
A significant advantage of an internationally established platform is the organized ecosystem of technical documentation, partners, and support. Victron has a global network of distributors, dealers, and installers and tools such as VRM for remote supervision. For the owner of an autonomous system, this has practical significance: the project should not depend on a "box" without a technical ecosystem.
Hellenic Energy chooses solutions based on long-term reliability and the possibility of support in Greece and internationally. We do not claim that there is one brand suitable for every application. In specific projects, Deye solutions and other manufacturers are also used. However, when complex energy autonomy, high parameterization, expandability, and advanced monitoring are required, Victron is one of the strongest options we consider.
Battery: kWh doesn't tell the whole story
Storage is often the most expensive and critical part of an off-grid system. Hellenic Energy uses, among others, LiFePO4 Pytes V5 batteries, designing the capacity according to daily consumption, night-time needs, peak loads, and desired autonomy.
The customer should request specific data: nominal and usable capacity, allowed depth of discharge, maximum charge/discharge current, BMS communication with the inverter, warranty, and expandability. The phrase "10 kWh battery" alone is not enough for a serious technical comparison.
Installation quality is as important as equipment
A premium inverter and a good battery are not enough. The installation must be treated as an electrical project: proper DC and AC protections, lightning protection where required, proper grounding, appropriate cross-sections, safe cable routing, circuit separation, proper equipment support, labeling, and a clean electrical panel.
Hellenic Energy places particular emphasis on this stage. The goal is not just for the system to "turn on" on the day of delivery, but for it to be designed to operate reliably and to be able to be maintained and expanded in the future.
Study based on actual consumption
A proper off-grid photovoltaic system doesn't start with how many panels fit on the roof. It starts with the loads. Daily consumption, hours of use, large loads, heat pumps, electric vehicles, pumps, motors, air conditioning, and backup needs are examined.
Then, photovoltaic power, inverter, storage, and operating strategy are calculated. In a hybrid system, it is also examined how the public grid will be used and how unwanted injection will be avoided when the project is designed for zero feed-in. For connection issues and the applicable framework, the customer should rely on the official information from DEDDIE, DEI and the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
What the customer should request in writing
- Exact manufacturer and model of inverter.
- Exact models and number of photovoltaic panels.
- Nominal and usable capacity of batteries.
- Description of AC/DC electrical panels and protections.
- Provision for lightning protection and grounding.
- Detailed technical dimensioning based on consumption.
- Equipment warranties and technical support terms.
- Expandability of inverter, photovoltaics, or storage.
- Monitoring and remote diagnostic capability.
- Clear description of installation and delivery work.
Credit and financing without degrading the solution
When credit or financing is available, the goal should be to make a quality system economically accessible, not to artificially reduce the initial price by degrading critical equipment. At Hellenic Energy, we examine available payment options per project, maintaining as a basic principle that the technical solution must first be correct.
How you should ultimately compare companies
The best company is not proven by an advertising slogan. It is proven by the study it delivers, the specific materials it declares, the quality of the electrical installation, the technical documentation, the after-sales support, and the ability to design a system around the real customer.
Hellenic Energy positions itself in this market as a technical company for energy autonomy and not as a simple equipment seller. With Victron Energy and Deye solutions, LiFePO4 Pytes storage, technical studies, and an emphasis on quality installation, the goal is for each project to be a long-term investment and not just the most economical offer of the day.
Before comparing prices, compare what exactly each project includes. That's where the real difference lies.
