Off-Grid Solar Companies Comparison | What to Check

Proper company comparison is not based on a general ranking or just the final price. In a standalone or hybrid photovoltaic system, true value is determined by the study, precise equipment, electrical protections, storage compatibility, and post-delivery support.

8 technical criteria before choosing a company

1. Consumption & load study

The proposal must be based on daily kWh, peaks, simultaneous loads, seasonality, and required autonomy.

2. Exact inverter model

Request manufacturer, model, phases, continuous power, and data related to the actual loads of the application.

3. Battery & BMS

Nominal kWh are not enough. Check chemistry, usable capacity, BMS, allowed currents, and communication with the inverter.

4. Photovoltaic field design

Panels, strings, voltages, MPPT, shading, and actual available space must be technically compatible.

5. Panels & protections

Request a clear description of AC/DC panels, disconnectors, fuses, grounding, and lightning protection where required.

6. Commissioning & monitoring

Proper parameterization, BMS communication, and diagnostic capability are part of the project, not a detail.

7. Warranties & support

Equipment, labor, response terms, and potential charges must be clear and in writing.

8. Scalability & documentation

Consider whether the system can be properly expanded and what technical documents will be delivered after installation.

What to request in writing in the offer

  1. Manufacturer and exact inverter model.
  2. Manufacturer, model, and number of photovoltaic panels.
  3. Nominal and, where documented, usable battery capacity.
  4. Description of AC/DC panels and protections.
  5. Grounding and lightning protection where required.
  6. Study based on actual loads and consumption.
  7. Equipment and labor warranties.
  8. Terms of technical support after installation.
  9. Monitoring and remote diagnostic method, where supported.
  10. Possibility and terms of future expansion.

How Hellenic Energy approaches the project

We start from the installation data, not from a standardized kW number. We examine loads, single-phase or three-phase architecture, photovoltaic field, storage, backup, protections, and expandability. Depending on the project, Victron, Deye, Solis, GoodWe solutions, LiFePO4 Pytes batteries, and other compatible equipment are evaluated.

The goal of the comparison is not merely to find the lowest price, but the best documented and most suitable solution for the specific installation.
